Almost everyone we know is impacted by Alzheimer's or another dementia, that is why my nieces Olivia and Emma wanted to start a fundraiser for this important cause. I am helping them by co-hosting what we would like to become an annual hike...A Hike to Remember.
Canada is the 3rd highest country most affected by this disease. In fact, over 747,000 Canadians are living with Alzheimer's or another dementia. Worldwide, at least 44 million people are living with dementia—more than the total population of Canada—making the disease a global health crisis that must be addressed.
One in five Canadians have experience caring for someone living with dementia, there is still a lack of awareness of the many issues that face people living with dementia, caregivers and families in Canada.
The funds we raise during A Hike to Remember are for the Canadian Alzheimer Society's in support of the mission to alleviate the personal and social consequences of dementia. This mission is reflected in campaigns that share the voices of people living with the disease, advocate for changes at the government level and more.
Thank you for your generosity in donating to this important cause.
