My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s several years ago and is battling the disease as my grandmother did years earlier. She was always an incredibly energetic, independent, wonderful and caring person, filled with life, who was in her element when with family and friends.  Now, my mother is scared because she doesn’t know where she is and sad because she has difficulty expressing herself and can’t remember how to do the simplest of tasks.  We comfort her as best we can and she shows her gratitude with hugs and kisses.  My mother is a beautiful person inside and out but she is quickly fading. I miss her so much.
