AST - BSO Self Care Series for Frontline Healthcare Providers

This 4-session series explores the different issues Frontline Health Care Providers may experience when providing care to People Living with Dementia.  In this series of workshops, participants will receive information on a variety of self care topics in addition to learning tips and strategies on how to work better as a team with the aim of enhancing client care.

Self-Care

Tuesday, June 21 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

This session will discuss the concept of Self Care and the important role it plays in managing the day-to-day stress associated with a Health Care Professional’s occupation.

Putting You First

Tuesday, July 19 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

This session will follow a U-FIRST approach to enhancing your self awareness of your current well-being. It will also support your reflection for opportunities for creating better balance in your life.

Communicating with Family/Friend Care Partners

Tuesday, September 20 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

This presentation will address ways to communicate with Family/Friend care partners who struggle with transitioning their person to a long-term care home.  We’ll review the importance of clear and transparent communication to foster a collaborative working relationship between the care team and family. When examining difficult interactions, we will look at why communication breaks down, family dynamics and how we can all better manage the expectations of the family. Finally, we will highlight useful tools and strategies clinicians can utilize in their daily practice.

Grief and Loss

Tuesday, October 18 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

This session will cover the significant bonds that can be formed between a resident and Health Care Professional. It will also highlight the emotional impact that the death of a resident/patient can have on these individuals as a result of their connection.

You could register to one or to all 4 sessions. Zoom link will be emailed to you closer to the event date.
