Event for Personal Support Workers and other Allied Health-care Providers.

Join us on Tuesday, March 10th for a special dinner presentation sponsored by Integracare.

Our guest speaker Lori Jackson from Canadian Hearing Services will talk about Dementia and Hearing Loss

Topic will include:

  • Understanding hearing loss, aging and hearing loss, other health reasons that can cause hearing loss
  • How to communicate, prevent aggression with amplification especially with those with dementia
  • Laws such as AODA Act; Long-Term Act and use of devices such as amplification
  • Process of getting hearing aids, standards and understanding the difference between Audiologist and Hearing Instrument Specialist

Lori is a registered Social Worker who has worked with hard of hearing, deaf and deafened older adults for over 18 years.  She has had the opportunity to work in a Violence Against Women Shelter and within the mental health department at Canadian Hearing Services formally Canadian Hearing Society.  Lori has previously worked in Supportive Housing and Long Term Care at St. Clair O’Connor Community for 5 years.
