TIFF Seniors' Film Fridays - The Age of Innocence
TIFF Bell Lightbox

movie - the age of innocence

In partnership with TIFF, we invite you to a free screening of The Age of Innocence – a Martin Scorsese adaptation of Edith Wharton’s novel.

This is a ravishing romance about three wealthy New Yorkers caught in a tragic love triangle. The ironically-titled story chronicles the grandeur and hypocrisy of high society in the 1870s. At the center of the film is Newland Archer (Day-Lewis), an upstanding attorney who secretly longs for a more passionate life. Engaged to the lovely but ordinary socialite May Welland (Winona Ryder), Newland resigns himself to a life of quiet complacency. But, when May's unconventional cousin returns to New York amid a social scandal, Newland risks everything for a chance at true love.

Please note: The movie is 139 minutes long and is followed by a one-hour discussion with TIFF’s Docents.

Seniors’ Film Fridays is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
