We are so excited to share that the Alzheimer Society Catch the Ace has launched, and tickets are now available to purchase! Draws will occur every Thursday at 6:30 PM!
Tickets start at $10 and provide you with a chance to win BIG in both a weekly prize and a larger progressive jackpot with 50% of all ticket sales going to the Alzheimer Society.
How it works
Purchase your tickets and choose an envelope that could contain the Ace of Spades.
Wait until the weekly draw every Thursday at 6:30 PM to see if your ticket is chosen. If it is, you’ll win 20% of that week’s ticket sales. If your card is the Ace of Spades, you’ll also win the Catch the Ace Progressive Jackpot.
If the card chosen is not the Ace of Spades, the progressive jackpot will continue to grow and that card is removed from the deck, increasing the chances of catching the ace next week!
Weekly draws continue until the Ace of Spades is caught.

We set new records this year with 314 participants, 48 teams, and a record number of corporate and media sponsors!
Together we raised over $100,000 and we’re still counting!
This year our theme was walk 10,006 steps for 10,006 people living with dementia in Simcoe County. Many of you walked with us and showed the people affected by dementia that they are not walking this journey alone.
We send our thanks to everyone who participated, donated, and sponsored the walk. The funds raised will stay in the community to support critical programs and services offered across Simcoe County by the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County. As the number of people diagnosed with dementia continues to climb, we ultimately hope for a cure, but until then we will keep walking!

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused us to change the way we offer service; however, we are starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. We have updated our reopening plan to align with the Ontario Government's new phased-in step approach. We are looking forward to offering in-person visits by appointment only over the summer as well as limited in-person group programs starting in the fall. As always, all programs are currently accessible virtually.
We will continue to provide updates by sharing any changes to our re-opening plan in our monthly newsletters, e-blasts and on our website.

Support groups connect family and friends caring for a person with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia, to education and information on coping strategies in a safe place, where they can also share challenges and successes.
Due to COVID-19, Caregiver Support Groups are not currently running in person; however, we have several options for you to connect with virtual groups over the web conferencing platform ZOOM.

We are pleased to announce that Leigh Ann Febrey has been hired as the new Minds in Motion Coordinator! During her career, Leigh Ann has worked as the Coordinator of Volunteer Services at Leacock Care Centre in Orillia, the Program and Support Services Manager at Simcoe Manor in Beeton and Trillium Manor in Orillia, and as an Activationist at Simcoe Manor. She has been a long-standing volunteer with the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County, serving in that capacity since 1997. We are excited to have her officially join our team!
In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers, we are delighted to recognize Marilyn Bender with the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County’s highest honour for her volunteer contributions to our work over a span of 15 years. Marilyn was presented with the Distinguished Service Award in the Support Programs category at the Society’s Annual General Meeting on June 17th.
Marilyn’s passion comes from a deep concern for and commitment to individuals living with dementia, and their care partners. She has contributed to all aspects of the work of the Alzheimer Society, including education programs, awareness events, support services, and fundraising campaigns. When COVID-19 challenged us to change our programming, Marilyn volunteered to call clients who were now more isolated than ever.
Marilyn’s gentle kindness, compassion, and enthusiasm enable her to create natural connections with people in groups and one-on-one. With her encouragement, clients gain strength and the resolve they need to care for their loved ones and advocate for their needs. Marilyn has done so much to help reduce the stigma associated with dementia, allowing those affected by this disease to live well and thrive in their community.
