Throughout the month, you will meet real people whose stories illustrate the ups, downs, and uncertainties of being affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Will you make a monthly impact to help support social recreation programs, education, and counselling, people living with dementia and their care partners need most?
This is your chance to make a lasting difference for thousands of people.
Get a Physical and Mental Boost with Minds in Motion®
Minds in Motion® is a fun program for people living with dementia and their care partners. We are currently recruiting participants to join our pilot project to learn about the impacts of Minds in Motion® offered virtually.
The program will run once a week for 8 weeks for 1.5 hours. This is a great environment to establish new friendships with others who are living with similar experiences.

BrainsCAN survey shows Alzheimer Society support leads to $1.3B in health-care savings
Did you know care partners who reported avoiding crises because of their local Alzheimer Society supports had an average of 2.11 fewer hospital visits per year? The importance of providing care at home is something Deb Weber knows about first-hand. Deb’s husband Bruce, diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2011 at the age of 61, was happiest being at home in familiar surroundings. Read Deb’s story and learn about what we are doing for you in the BrainsCAN Report. READ MORE >>
New Format for Alzheimer Society of KFLA Newsletter
You are reading the first edition of the new Alzheimer Society of KFLA newsletter. With the help of the Alzheimer Society of Ontario (ASO) digital media staff, we now have an easier to read and more informative newsletter with a cleaner layout, which still contains all of our local news. The Calendar for August has been sent to you in a separate email, however, moving forward, you will receive a link to the monthly calendar in the newsletter. If you have any comments or questions about the new format, please do not hesitate to call us!

Anything for Alzheimer's Third-Party Fall Fundraisers
The fall ‘Alzheimers Coffee Break’ fundraiser was for years, one of our top fundraisers, second only to the Walk for Alzheimers. In the fall of 2020, ‘Social with a Purpose’ was introduced, replacing the Coffee Break in some communities. We have continued to promote both the Coffee Break and Social with a Purpose, under the title of Anything for Alzheimer's allowing our hosts to choose how they wish to run their third-party fundraiser. We are hoping to rebuild our fall Coffee Break/Social with a Purpose program and we are looking for hosts! Call or email for more information about the Anything for Alzheimer’s fundraisers to fundraising@alzking.com or 613-544-3078 ext. 201.
